Neymar is expected to light up the World Cup in Qatar this winter with all of Brazil's hopes resting on the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.

The 30-year-old has moved to within two goals of Pele’s all-time Brazil record and will be desperate to achieve that feat on football's biggest stage.

Should he do so, fans will be expected to see Neymar whip out his new celebration that has taken European football by storm.

As one of footballs' biggest characters, Neymar is no stranger to a dazzling celebration from emulating Steph Curry to Samba dances.

But his latest - which he has already trademarked - is among his most memorable.

It involves Neymar placing his hands on either side of his head, open palm facing and sticking out his tongue simultaneously.

The gesture originated during PSG's pre-season tour of Japan, in which the forward was accused of diving to win a penalty by sections of the media in the club's 6-2 win over local side Gamba Osaka.

Aggrieved by the comments, Neymar took to social media to share a picture of himself doing the celebration.

He captioned the post: "Grimace for the haters!"

Neymar has since taken the celebration into the new season as a continued message to his critics, producing it on a number of occasions after banging in plenty of Ligue 1 games.

Yet he was incensed when referee Daniel Siebert showed him a yellow card for doing it in PSG's 3-1 win over Maccabi Haifa in September.

Speaking later on an Instagram story, Neymar said: "Another victory, congratulations, but we move on, right?

"There it is, a celebration is a yellow card, another one for the list for NJ (Neymar) haha. It’s only with me that these things happen to.

"Next time I will warn the referees that I am going to do it. Football keeps getting more annoying!"
