On the same Friday, the band announced the release of their new single (and its accompanying video). “Are You Bored Yet?” is a dreamy, meta video set in a karaoke bar.
For you music fans, this video is very familiar to George Ezra’s “Pretty Shining People”. But where Ezra’s is almost painfully-awkward and clean-cut (we see you parted hair), Wallows’ turns it on its head.
The band’s take on the 80’s fashion and musical undertones is especially evident in the foreground colors and sounds of the video. Considering much of the newer indie pop/rock that is being released is returning to 80’s synths, we love to see Wallows make it their own.
And just the day before the release of the tour dates and the music video, Wallows announced the release of their debut album: Nothing Happens.
The album, which will be released through Atlantic Records on March 22, is highly anticipated. Considering the band has garnered attention from tons of music lovers all over the world (hence the Coachella set), we aren’t surprised to see people head over heels with excitement.
The band’s music has always had positive reception, and we doubt the album will be less than amazing.
Here’s the tracklist for Nothing Happens:
