Steven Frederick Seagal was born on April 10, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan. His mother, Patricia, was of Dutch, English, and German heritage, and his father, Samuel, was the son of a Jewish-Russian immigrant to the United States. Seagal spent his formative years in California and fell in love with martial arts at a young age. By the time he was 7 years old, he was already training under a professional karate instructor.
