There is a little more than two months before the much anticipated fourth season of HBO’s hit series ‘Game of Thrones’ premieres. Producers D.B. Weiss and Dan Benioff have promised this season to be even more bloody and exciting than the previous three. A scary thought considering how the ‘Red Wedding’ sent ‘Game of Thrones’ fans for a loop last year. This is going to be the longest two months ever!
For those of you who follow the show and have also watched some of the ‘Harry Potter’ movies you may have noticed a striking similarity amongst the actors. In fact, there are nine actors (some of which rather obscure characters) that are featured in both ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Harry Potter’. Who are they? Here are a few to check out…
Bronson Webb played Will (the dude from the opening scene of the series who is beheaded by Ned Stark) in ‘Game of Thrones’ and an unnamed Slytherin student in ‘Harry Potter’.
Natalia Tena who plays Osha in ‘Game of Thrones’ was Nymphadora Tonks.
David Bradley (Lord Walder Frey) played Argus Fitch in the ‘Harry Potter’ films.
Julian Glover who hobbled around as Grand Maester Pycelle in ‘Game of Thrones’ voiced Aragog.
Fan favorite Michelle Fairley who was brilliant in her role as Catelyn Stark played Mrs. Granger in the seventh ‘Harry Potter’ film.
Ciaran Hinds who is invading from the north as Mance Rayder in ‘Game of Thrones’ played Aberforth Dumbledore.
Ralph Ineson (Dagmar Cleftjaw) played Amycus Carrow in ‘Harry Potter’.
The remaining characters are relatively obscure and don’t feature much in the films. If you’d like to see the full list click this link. The success of ‘Game of Thrones’ has much to do with the stellar performances by the actors in the films. Thus, it should come as no surprise that we are going to see actors from the series all over the place going forward (and in the past). Good luck waiting a couple months until Season 4.
