He also played Barret Bonden in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Glen in the 2004 comedy/horror Seed of Chucky. He also played Malky in the 2006 film The Flying Scotsman. Boyd debuted in 1996 with appearances in Taggart, The Soldier’s Leap, and Urban Ghost Story (1998). In 1997, he featured in a performance of David Greig’s Caledonia Dreaming by the 7:84 Theatre Company Scotland. He made his debut as Peregrin “Pippin” Took in The Lord of the Rings trilogy from 2001 to 2003.
